Overview

This "new city" was founded in 1296 and serves as an escape from the whirlwind pace of life.  Chiang Mai is well known as the calm backdrop to the sensory overload that is Bangkok.

It comes complete with the things to love about Bangkok - delicious street food, low priced massages, and great shopping.  But it has the added charm of being close to the countryside and adopting a more laid-back feel.  Nothing can prepare you for how nice and accommodating the people in Chiang Mai are.  The Thai Smile is one you'll grow to love and long for after you depart.  Many people come to Chiang Mai and never want to leave, be careful.

Where You'll Stay

Nimmanhaemin Road lies in the sweet spot just west of the old city and just east of the mountains.  The neighborhood surrounding the main street is affectionately referred to as Nimman.  It's vibrant and fun and decidedly the "hip" part of town and has no shortage of bars, coffee shops, restaurants, food carts, and various good times. There's always something fun going on in the area and you'll have easy access to the infamous night markets.

Our building includes the following features:

  • Wifi
  • HDMI enabled television
  • Cable (HBO)
  • Air Conditioner
  • 24 Hour Front Desk Concierge
  • Weekly cleaning service
  • Linens
  • Refrigerator, Microwave, Hotplate
  • Cookware, Eatery, Cutlery

What You'll Do

A few days after you arrive, you'll enjoy a welcome event (which includes lunch or dinner) and get to know your Wanderist family.

Get to know Chiang Mai during a walking tour with a local who will take you through local markets, teach you how to haggle, and show you some of the temples in the city, there are over 300!

Spend a day meditating with monks.  You'll get to know about monk’s life, Thai culture and Tradition, Buddhism, etc. You'll also participate in Concentration Meditation and Vipassana Meditation which is the way to make the mind peaceful, and to develop transcendent insight which penetrates into the truth of life.

We'll host a networking session at our coworking space, PunSpace, where you'll meet the other folks in the tight-knit digital nomad community.

Taking a break from it all and getting close to nature, we'll trek to waterfalls, experience cooking lessons and hang out with some rescued elephants at a fully sustainable eco-village 30 minutes outside of Chiang Mai. Wake up to fresh coffee and views of the elephants wandering free in the valley below. Get back to nature and have some time to think and reflect amongst the most beautiful nature Thailand offers. And did we say elephants?!

One of the most beautiful events in Thailand is the Yi Peng festival.  This happens each year in November.  We'll take you out on the Narrowat Bridge to light a lantern and float away our worries and cares to the sky.  It really is quite a beautiful site. Afterwards, we'll walk over to the temple to experience the monks chanting.

There will be a photographer hanging around at all of our events, capturing memories so you can focus on enjoying yourself.

We'll have a calendar of events for our group to enjoy and make sure we get to experience local events as well.

Where You'll Work

In between the fun, when it's time to buckle down and work, head over to PunSpace.

The space is filled with expats and digital nomads who have formed a community in Chiang Mai.  People come and go, but the community remains pretty close via Facebook.

Punspace is located near Thae Phae Gate which is packed with spots to eat and cafes, not to mention some of the night markets are very close.

There are also regularly schedule start-up and entrepreneur meet-ups here.  Great place for creativity, productivity, and collaboration.

Who's In charge

Brittnee Bond will be your Community Manager.

Brittnee worked in intellectual property law in the US for six years. Since moving away from the US, she has been working with co-living and co-working spaces, organizing and running retreats, setting up marketing campaigns and leading community outreach.
